Elmswood Institute opened in 1962 in a single converted farmhouse with 34 students and five teachers. Six decades later, we occupy three connected campuses and serve over 1,200 students.
011962 — Founded by five teachers on Founders Lane with a single mixed-age classroom.
021978 — Opened the Middle School wing and introduced our first formal science labs.
032001 — Completed the Upper School campus, including the library and performing arts hall.
042019 — Launched need-based scholarships covering up to 75% of tuition.
